Kirby Dick - This Film Is Not Yet Rated

Kirby Dick - This Film Is Not Yet Rated
Quote;
"This Film Is Not Yet Rated is an independent documentary film about the Motion Picture Association of America's rating system and its effect on American culture, directed by Kirby Dick and produced by Eddie Schmidt. It premiered at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival and was released into select theatres on September 1, 2006. The Independent Film Channel, the film's producer, aired the film later that autumn.

The MPAA gave the original cut of the film an NC-17 rating for "some graphic sexual content": scenes that illustrated the content a film could include to garner an NC-17 rating. Kirby Dick appealed, and descriptions of the ratings deliberations and appeal were included in the documentary. The new version of the film is not rated.

The film discusses disparities the filmmaker sees in ratings and feedback: between Hollywood and independent films, between gay and straight sexual situations, and between violence and sexual content."

Dan Lowe - Field Music - In Context Dan Lowe - Field Music - In Context
Quote;
"One good thing about producing a low-budget music video in a very short time is that the financial and time pressure tends to sometimes bring out the best in people. Dan Lowe's music video for UK band Field Music is a great example, made under such conditions. The only thing to rely on, as a director, is a good concept, your own creativity and a bit of luck. Lowe, who is part of a UK collective of live action directors called Team Stush, came up with a simple but brilliant concept. The video shows the making of a lifesize wall drawing and it had us glued to the edge of our seats from start to finish. Shooting the video was not as simple as it may seem, explains Dan Lowe.

Dan Lowe: "Yes, the 'In Context' was a super low budget video in which the band were unavailable to get involved. The idea was to keep the viewer hooked until the final reveal and the best way to do that was to do the whole thing in one continuous take. On the day the picture took 25 minutes to draw out in one unbroken line, which I edited to match the flow and rhythm of the track, each image has a loose non lateral connection with the lyrics throughout the video.""

Hilde Buiter - The Contagiousness of Evil Hilde Buiter - The Contagiousness of Evil
Quote;
"This animation was made for a school project, in which i could decide the subject. I chose "why are people mean?" I think it's because somebody else that was already evil, made you evil too. Everybody has a bit of evil in himself, the monster inside the head represents that. It can be set free by someone that makes you mad. Then the monster will kill the little fairy, which represents your goodness, and take over your head to make you evil as well. If the little fairy is still alive after that happened, it is possible that the fairy will stop the monster and you are no longer evil. But not in this case.. " >>
